That was totally amazing!!! for the last 5 or so months, Avi was
organizing the Woodstock tribute festival at the blue parrot--which
happened yesterday-today 6/4-5!!---the house was packed and the
entertainment and talent was incredible---kudos to Avi and the
BlueWaves.

in addition, i need to thank those who joined me on stage during my
set--Avi(keyboards) John(drums)of the Bluewaves, Les(guitar) of
Eminence Front and Roger Silverberg and Hank Stone on the vocals--
thanking Hank for the great intro and Fish Cheer--me best backing band
since Mark Loebl and the LIMC All-Stars on 12/18/2004 at the munchaba--
can't really remember much of the original woodstock--it was the '60's
ya know--this one-i'll never forget!!!

but last night it was ROCKING! Thanks to Allan Spielman of Blue Waves for organizing the Woodstock Festival. The music ran from 2215 to 0245 pretty much without a hitch. And no one got muddy! The standout performance from my point of view was Grand Boulevard doing the music of Sly and the Family Stone. Time to get some S U N !! Mumblin' Mark

And you won't forget, bro... long as you stay clear of the laced L.I. "iced
teas" being passed around behind the bar at the Parrot. :-)

What I do remember about late 60s music, from being there, is how even the
AM top 40 stations reflected the broad range of styles out there. Before there
were walls put up and painted with the term "genres." Woodstock (the
original) and the other night's "tribute festival" drove that diversity home.
Great, inspired, spontaneous performances, fabulous vibe, good company...
what else is there? A sonic palette by our own played to the score written by
Sly Stone and The Who; The Band and Cream. That was some good history,
then and NOW
