ALLAN SPIELMAN AND THE ELECTRIX TO HOST ANOTHER WATKINS GLEN SUMMER JAM 1973 TRIBUTE CONCERT TO BENEFIT “HELEN KELLER NATIONAL CENTER FOR DEAF-BLIND YOUTHS AND ADULTS”.
 
On Saturday October 25, 2008, The Electrix, together with Host Allan Spielman , Big Daddy and the Bulldogs, and King Penguin will host a Watkins Glen Summer Jam 1973 tribute concert to benefit the “Helen Keller National Center For Deaf-Blind Youths And Adults (HKNC) of Sands Point, NY”. Authorized by an Act of Congress in 1967, the mission of HKNC is to enable each person who is deaf-blind to live and work in his or her community of choice.
 
The Center provides services to youth and adults who are deaf-blind according to the definition of deaf-blindness in the Helen Keller Act.  The Center operates a residential and training facility at our headquarters in Sands Point, NY. Switchboard hours at headquarters are 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.  Support services for youth and adults who are deaf-blind, their families and the professionals who serve them across the country are provided through our system of field services Please visit their website at http://www.hknc.org/.
 
The concert will feature many of the songs from the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, and the Band that performed at the July 28, 1973 Summer Jam event. The music will run non-stop from 9:30pm to 2:30am, and will feature two extra long sets of the Grateful Dead covered by the Electrix, a set of the Allman Brothers performed by Big Daddy and the Bulldogs, and songs from the Band covered by King Penguin. 
 
The Benefit will take place on Saturday October 25, 2008 Whoville Bar and Grill located at
339 Broadway, Bethpage NY. There is a $10 minimum donation.
